PRIMARY COORDINATOR

Dear Parents,

As we draw quickly towards the end of the term we can look back and reflect on some of the achievements in our first term of 2017.

First and foremost would be the settling in of the youngest members of our school community and how wonderfully well they have achieved this. Prep students now have commenced to understand the structure of the days of the week at school and are working very well in their classroom environment.

Swimming program: Each year students in Grade Prep to Grade 4 have the opportunity to participate in an intensive swimming program held at the end of Term1 and as always we had a very successful program and were pleased to see the progress of the students at the different levels apart from the fun they had every day.

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Our students performed a Punjabi dance at Kids Town for the launch of Diversity week on Monday, 20th March. On Tuesday it was great to see everyone dressed in their traditional clothes and involved in various activities within their classrooms.

Parent Teacher Interviews took place on Wednesday, 29th March &Thursday 30th March. These interviews are to discuss how your children have settled into their new class and their academic progress to date. Thank you to the parents who came in to share with their child’s teacher the many successes they have had during this time. If you were unable to attend please make alternate arrangements early next term.

You will be receiving your child’s Term 1 report during the school holidays. Please talk to your child about the report and discuss strategies which they can use to do better next term. We have found that reading is one area that we cannot ignore. These habits are invariably formed whilst a child is in primary school. So during these holidays, I encourage you to visit the library with your child, read to them and borrow as many books as you can.

Everyday counts

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day - missing just one day puts them behind; missing several days can have a serious consequence on their learning and level of achievement. We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school. If you’re having trouble with getting your child to school for whatever reason, please don’t hesitate to contact the school so we can work together to assist and support you and your child.

In order to encourage your child to put in some hours of study, some homework has been given to them for the holidays. Kindly ensure it is done. We thank you all for your cooperation and support to us in Term 1, 2017.

Thank you to all of our staff members, office, teacher aides for their work during the term. Short terms often mean the same amount of work having to get done in a shorter time frame. Really appreciate all your hard work.

Finally, I want to wish you all a happy and safe holiday and we’ll see you back at school on 18th April.

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Tarbinder Pandher
